Resumo: | The work consisted of analysis of 425 questionnaires completed by carters, 19 Units Receiving Small Packages, Program participants to generate income for employment in the informal sector developed in partnership by the Veterinary School of UFMG and Municipal Government Belo Horizonte. The collected variables were the independent variable accident at work and regressive variables age of the carter, the number of children, place of birth, educational level, working time, the former professional activity, if the portfolio of work was signed, weekly income, type of material transported on public roads used during labor and the carter was the owner of the cart. Among the regressive variables that had significant effect on the increased probability of occurrence of the accident were: working time, education and the carter was the owner of the cart. The results indicated that with increasing level of education decreased the probability of occurrence of the accident. Greater probability of accidents at work were also observed in classes with greater working time, and the owners of the cart. |

As variáveis coletadas foram a variável independente acidente de trabalho e as variáveis regressoras a idade do carroceiro, o número de filhos, a naturalidade, o grau de instrução, o tempo de trabalho, a atividade profissional anterior, se a carteira de trabalho era assinada, a renda semanal, o tipo de material transportado, as vias públicas utilizadas durante o trabalho e se o carroceiro era proprietário da carroça. Dentre as variáveis regressoras as que apresentaram efeito significativo sobre o aumento da probabilidade de ocorrência do acidente de trabalho foram: tempo de trabalho, grau de instrução e se o carroceiro era proprietário da carroça. Os resultados indicaram que com o aumento do grau de instrução houve redução na probabilidade de ocorrência do acidente de trabalho.
