Resumo: This dissertation analyzes the chronicles, poems and letters presents on the work 'Quando é dia de futebol', by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, with the objective to demonstrate that these texts show, when commenting about football, a fusion betwen a drummondiano's style of writing and a particular way of seeing the sport and its relationship with Brazilian society. For it is, based on the concepts of 'prose football' and 'poetry football' by Pier Paolo Pasolini, and identifies, in the irony recourse, the most important proceedings used by Drummond to talk about the sport and, at the same time, to criticize the political and social context of Brazil in the period in which the texts were written, between the World Cups of 1954 and 1982.
