Inclusão e acessibilidade nas bibliotecas universitárias: a formação e atuação do bibliotecário

Resumo: This work presents an exploratory research with a qualitative approach in order to reflect on the formal and continuing education of the librarian for interaction with disabled users aiming at the inclusion and accessibility of these in the university libraries. In Brazil there are 45.6million people with disabilities, representing 23.91% of the population, according to data from IBGE (2010), which strengthens the importance and studies on this subject. So the object of this study is primarily the reference librarian. The data were collected by means of literature review, by consulting the curriculum of librarianship courses in the State of Minas Gerais, semi structured interviews with eight reference librarians of the Library System of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), with three students with disabilities (hearing, visual and physical) enrolled in courses at UFMG, and with the Board of Library System. For the study was used the observation technique in the spaces of university libraries where the respondents work. The dialogue between professionals and students with disabilities on the theme investigation has shown, through content analysis, the views on the following defined categories: Presence of users with disabilities, technology and / or accessible service to the disabled, vocational training, librarian performance in inclusive society and management at the university library. It emphasizes the importance of knowledge, continuing education for skills development and living with diversity to the work of information professionals in inclusive society. The dialogue between the Library / Information Science and InclusiveEducation contributes to the design of accessible libraries.
