"Listening Places: from life, in journalism" is a text that records through essays a doctoral journey and reflections on the possibilities of articulating listening as an expanded process of understanding the world, and journalistic listening, thought over aspects present in articlebooks, specific bibliographies of the communication field, poetry, theater texts, and other objects, including lived experiences, mobilized to highlight their multiple traits; we start from a simplifying impression of listening and seek to complexify it throughout the text. Along these lines, we present discussions about the listening that a reporter is able to do in person or through various mediations, we also discuss the listening of people in mourning, self-listening, and the listening of beings that, based on Eliana Brum, we call more than human. We also seek to highlight aspects of the listening done by this reporter, who presents herself in various fronts as a "listener," and aspects of the listening present in the works of Svetlana Aleksiévitch, who presents herself as an "ear-woman." We propose, with Leda Maria Martins, the concept of crossroads as an articulator of the essays, which although they seek to be autonomous in themselves, they also bring reflections about the act of listening also to journalism, and more specifically to its news reports practices.
