Resumo: This dissertation has as main objective research the study of color in art, by the aesthetic and historical point of view. Searching introduce the fundamental concepts, consecrated schools and reference artists, constitute the first pillar of the method of study in development, called for me Color Laboratory. The theoretical corpus aims to objectify the importance of knowing the color for the painter or painting student, presenting the particularities, complexities and characters in the vast field of color in the arts. The reading covers various aspects of art historical eras, from theories of color in ancient Greece, Rome, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassicism, Romanticism and modern art. Finally, this dissertation aims to punctuate coloristic axes in contemporary art. However, it is possible to detect, in actuality, the reflections of color thought reverberated through centuries of history.
