Resumo: This research is divided into three chapters and aims to analyze Alexandre O'Neill's poems tacking back the poetic of João Cabral de Melo Neto to show a process of theorizing by the Portuguese poet about poetry. At first, begin with a discussion about modern poetry and then to show the poetic of Alexandre O'Neill and its relationship with the Brazilian poetry. Finally, makes up a dialogue between the poetics of Alexandre O'Neill and João Cabral de Melo Neto, from the concept of reflection about making poetry. It is intended, therefore, to show clearly the awareness of making poetry on the way to the poetic thinking, so to promote a discussion about this process from the very refusal of poetry and the word liberation.
