Resumo: Introduction: Scouting can be considered as alternative social way as complements, in a societal way, education of children and youth. Objectives: Analyze Scouting as a factor in health promotion and violence prevention, review the literature related to Scouting, as a factor in health promotion and prevention of violence, to describe the perception of life of respondents, the role of Scouting in this course and discuss the impact of the scouting movement in the lives of respondents who are attending or attended the Scout Group Mangabeiras. Methodology: literature review and content analysis of qualitative, through semi-structured interviews. Results and Discussion: The analysis of the interviews demonstrated, as well as literature studied, that scouting is an effective tool in civic education of its members. Conclusions: In terms of the manifestations of respondents, combined with theoretical literature, scouting can be considered as alternative social health promotion and violence prevention.
