Resumo: Team-based learning (TBL) is an education instructional strategy that is being increasingly applied in medical schools. TBL focuses mainly on ensuring students to have the opportunity to practice using course concepts to solve problems. More specifically, students are strategically organized into permanent groups, which is expected to estimulate integrative learning. The goal of this educational research is to determine the positive (strengths) and negative aspects (weaknesses) of the students' experience with TBL in the discipline Attention to Women's Health. Groups were also asked to provide suggestions and perceptions for how the TBL could be modified to further enhancing their learning. We conducted a qualitative study, with secondary data on 168 forms with semi-structured questions filled by students. There were positive points in the teaching-learning with construction of conceptual maps, study routine and commitment, understanding the student as an active agent of his/her own knowledge construction process, acquisition of social interaction and solving practical problems. On the other hand, as negative issues were: students´ difficulties in becoming an evaluator in the process. They highlight the needing of trained teachers upon TBL methodology. Students had suggested to rearrange the number of TBL sessions per week, better content/subject distribution and to reorganize the evaluation process.
