Resumo: This study aimed to search, in Manoel de Barros poetry, narrative elements related to musicality. The poet's works were created based on national cultural characteristics, which have been part of the Brazilian literary canon for decades. The texts narrate episodes with different protagonists, such as men, women, children, animals, objects and elements of nature (landscapes). The meter, rhyme and sound present in the texts contribute to musicality. The sensitivity of the lyrical subject, corroded by pain, and the act of playing with words, in certain texts, produce an orgasmic relationship with language, creating in the author a kind of poetic enchantment and nostalgic memories of childhood. The aim was to analyze points of convergence between literature and musicality, based on the parameters defined by Melopoetics, by Solange Oliveira (2002, 2003). In the analysis, characteristics such as the rhythm and sound of the words and verses within the poem were also verified, considered patterns of poetic construction that create sound and aesthetic effects. The main corpus of this research is made up of several of the author's poems, including some that have been set to music. To develop this research, of a critical-bibliographic nature, it was necessary to resort to studies by authors who have already dealt with the analysis of poetry, musical composition and verse structures in poems. To this end, we used the theoretical support of studies by Candido (1986), Rodrigues (2015), Ferraz (2006), Chartier (2002), Paz (1982), Compagnon (2010), Barbosa (1986) and Penna (2005). Finally, the central role of literature in the arts panorama stands out, being an expressive means of struggles and resistance throughout different periods of our history. Keywords: Contemporary Brazilian Literature; Poetry; Literature and Music; Melopoetics.
