Resumo: The present research aims to present a reflection on the historical search for the definition of human rights in conjunction with the recognition of diversity, as a constitutive element of dignity, through the exercise of tolerance to experience the culture of peace in the face of the challenges of the democratic State Brazilian in the search to promote a peaceful and inclusive society for sustainable development. From a qualitative approach and through biblio-graphical research and explanatory method, it is possible to understand and discuss the concept of the word diversity from the perspective of different authors and carry out a critical and reflective analysis on the topic addressed. It was about recognizing diversity and exercising tolerance, to experience a culture of peace, as well as the challenges and alternatives encountered by the Brazilian democratic State, to promote a peaceful and inclusive society for sustainable development according to SDG (Sustainable Development Goals), n. 16, of the UN 2030 Agenda.

It was about recognizing diversity and exercising tolerance, to experience a culture of peace, as well as the challenges and alternatives encountered by the Brazilian democratic State, to promote a peaceful and inclusive society for sustainable development according to SDG (Sustainable Development Goals), n. 16, of the UN 2030 Agenda.A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo apresentar uma reflexão sobre a busca histórica da definição dos direitos humanos em conjunto com o reconhecimento da diversidade, como elemento constitutivo da dignidade, por meio do exercício da tolerância para vivenciar a cultura de paz diante dos desafios do Estado democrático brasileiro na busca pela promoção de uma sociedade pacífica e inclusiva para o desenvolvimento sustentável. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa e por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e método explicativo, pode-se compreender e dialogar sobre o conceito da palavra diversidade na perspectiva de diversos autores e realizar uma análise crítica e reflexiva sobre o tema abordado.
