In the course of Brazilian history, in its 200 years of existence, the institution of the Jury Court, a democratic source of justice, reached the level of a fundamental right and guarantee, at first for the accused, to be judged by their peers, and, after, contemporaneously, from society, to participate in the administration of criminal jurisdiction. Under the aegis of the Federal Constitution, the American Convention on Human Rights and influences of Functional Criminal Law and Fair Criminal Procedure, this research seeks to analyze what is the real scope, meaning and function of the institution of the Jury Court. For this purpose, of an exploratory nature, it used the inductive-deductive, teleological method of approach and the bibliographic review modality, with the study of the Jury Court as an integral mechanism of the Integral Protection System of Human Life, as an institution guaranteeing the right life.
