Given the current situation of overcrowding in the Penitentiary System of Mato Grosso and the organized action of crime, as well as the level of education of people incarcerated within the penitentiaries, it is necessary for the State to adopt a more energetic stance in the execution and promotion of public education policies in prison to stop the criminal order. The general objective of this work was to analyze the education policies in the Penitentiary System of Mato Grosso, in order to discern whether such policies facilitate the process of resocialization for inmates. The methodological procedure used was based on a bibliographical, qualitativequantitative research, using a descriptive and explanatory analysis in a sample of the context of the penitentiary system composed by educational teams of management, as well as the promotion of education in prison. The research involving qualitative and quantitative methodology highlights the urgency of proposing in-depth discussions on the subject in order to evaluate all the aspects, whether textual and informative contexts, as well as the inputs of data and numerical factors, as was the case in the identification process against the use and analysis of public statistics on the object in question (prison system). The working hypothesis was: 'What are the actions of public education policies in the prison of the State of Mato Grosso' that effectively promote resocialization? It was conjectured that it is fundamental and extremely necessary that a restructuring of the system be carried out, promoting education in private prison, professionalization, economic growth, the generation of jobs, providing opportunities for improvement in the living conditions of the prison population. All these itens in terms of public security will have long-term effects accompanied by continued public educational policies of social scope.
