The present research addresses the phenomenon of transfeminicide in Brazil, an extreme manifestation of gender-based violence that disproportionately affects transgender women and travestis. The specific objectives were: to map and analyze the murders of transgender women and travestis in Brazil; to examine possible failures in the collection of official data in Brazil; and to assess whether the Brazilian legal framework is adequate and effective for the protection of the fundamental rights of this population. The study is based on documental analysis, through a bibliographic review of relevant academic literature, as well as the collection and analysis of statistical data provided by NGOs and institutions such as ANTRA (National Association of Travestis and Transsexuals) and the Grupo Gay da Bahia (GGB). This information is essential to map the incidence of crimes and identify patterns of underreporting and invisibility within the Brazilian justice system. The combination of these methodologies ensures a more in-depth analysis, contributing to the formulation of inclusive public policies and the promotion of human rights for this vulnerable population. The study analyzes fundamental and human rights, highlighting the need for formal recognition of transfeminicide in Brazilian criminal law. Furthermore, it investigates the underreporting of hate crimes and criticizes the legal system's failures to adequately protect this population. The dissertation also explores the efforts of civil society organizations in the fight against transfeminicide, emphasizing their crucial role in data collection, victim support, and the promotion of inclusive public policies. By analyzing the intersections of oppressions faced by these women, the work aims to provide insights for the development of more effective public policies and to promote greater awareness of the need to protect and respect the rights of transgender and travesti individuals.
