Resumo: Introduction: Equine therapy is defined as a therapeutic and educational method that uses the horse in an interdisciplinary approach in the areas of health, education and riding, seeking the biopsychosocial development of handicapped people. Objectives: To analyze the scientific production on the benefits of equine therapy for children with cerebral palsy, to verify the perception of caregivers and the benefits of equine therapy for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, and to produce reflection and recognition among caregivers on the importance of their role together to equine therapy; to construct guidance material on equine therapy for parents and/or caregivers of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy. Methodology: The first objective was achieved with an integrative literature review, conducted through a database search, such as: VHL and PubMed. The second objective was accomplished through a qualitative research with 5 mothers of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy practicing equine therapy, photographic records were made, after the choice of the photographs, a semistructured interview and the analysis made according to the content. The development of a parent and/or caretaker orientation book in which the photographs were used and validated by the mothers. Results: 8 articles were selected from the databases that demonstrated that the researches who conducted the study pointed out that the practice of equine therapy with people with cerebral palsy has several significant evidences, especially in the area of Physical Therapy. Thus, in the field of Psychology emerges the need to expand the research on this treatment. Along with the realization of this study, it was possible to conclude, according to the mothers' perception, that the therapy brings important benefits in the biopsychosocial areas of the child and the adolescent with cerebral palsy, also emphasizing the importance of the proximal processes for adherence to the treatment. Final considerations: It is demonstrated the need for research in the field of equine therapy regarding the psychological benefits and the increase of discussions about the role of the psychologist in this therapeutic modality. Through this study it was possible to perceive, according to the mothers, that the therapy brings important benefits in the biopsychosocial areas of the child and adolescent with cerebral palsy, also emphasizing the importance of the proximal processes for the adherence to the treatment. Product and its applicability: The research process resulted in the creation of a primer on equine therapy for parents/caregivers of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy. Its content was developed from the photographs and interviews conducted with the mothers who participated in the research and later validated by them. Its applicability is directed to parents, caregivers, family members and the general public who is interested in learning about equine therapy.

Submitted by MARCIA ROVADOSCHI (marciar@unifra.br) on 2019-06-10T14:18:45Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertacao_CarolineSchneiderXavier.pdf: 1418559 bytes, checksum: a3d62081fede8be3f4d1ff1ecb775a38 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-06-10T14:18:45Z (GMT).
