Departamento de Letras, Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto.Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal o resgate e a preservação da memória da Linguagem de Camaco no município de Itabira, MG. Nesse intento a pesquisa bouscou: 1. Estabelecer uma discussão crítica a partir das relações entre linguagem, identidade, memória, resistência e a existência da Linguagem de Camaco, ao estudar a relação de falantes e de moradores da cidade com a Linguagem de Camaco; 2. Gerar registros dessa Linguagem, a partir dos quais seja possível compreender melhor a formação de seu léxico e os mecanismos linguísticos utilizados. Para a consecução desses objetivos realizou-se pesquisas bibliográficas e etnográficas em busca de registros que permitam melhor entendimento sobre o contexto de surgimento dessa Linguagem, sobre sua disseminação, sua resistência até os dias atuais e sobre os possíveis usos feitos pelos falantes ao longo de sua existência. Dos resultados observados, tem-se que a Linguagem de Camaco possui relações estreitas com a prática mineradora e com as relações coloniais decorrentes da formação do país ainda enquanto colônia portuguesa. Criada por trabalhadores negros, a partir desse contexto, a Linguagem opera de forma decolonial, proporcionando a seus falantes a possibilidade do que é proposto como aquilombamento linguístico.This research has as main objective the rescue and the preservation of the memory of the Language of Camaco in the municipality of Itabira, MG. To this end, the research focused on: 1. Establishing a critical discussion based on the relationship between language, identity, memory, resistance and the existence of the Language of Camaco, when studying the relationship of speakers and residents of the city with the Language of Camaco; 2. Generate records of this Language, from which it may be possible to better understand the formation of its lexicon and the linguistic mechanisms used. To achieve these objectives, bibliographic and ethnographic research was carried out in search of records that allow a better understanding of the context of the emergence of this Language, its dissemination, its resistance to the present day and the possible uses made by speakers throughout its existence. From the results observed, one can say that the Language of Camaco has close relations with mining practice and with the colonial relations resulting from the formation of the country while still a Portuguese colony.
