Departamento de História, Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto.Durante as três primeiras décadas do século XX, a Física passou por significativas transformações, dando margem à imersão de novas formulações teóricas. A descoberta do raio-x, o Princípio da Incerteza de Heisenberg, as noções de Complementaridade de Bohr, a descoberta da fissão nuclear, todos esses são exemplos de trabalhos científicos que fizeram com que as premissas que fundamentavam a Física Clássica fossem questionadas, o que deu origem ao processo de desenvolvimento da Mecânica Quântica. O Princípio da Incerteza de Heisenberg e a teoria da Complementaridade de Bohr, especialmente, tornaram-se fundamentações essenciais para a constituição daquele campo e da mudança no quadro teórico, principalmente relacionado à microfísica. Niels Bohr foi um dos cientistas que dedicou grande parte da sua vida ao desenvolvimento e à organização teórica e metodológica da Mecânica Quântica, em que a noção de Complementaridade era utilizada pelo físico dinamarquês como explicação mais elementar. O desenvolvimento científico daquele campo, então, colaborou com a mudança na forma como as pessoas se relacionavam com o mundo e com a Ciência, a partir do primeiro quartel do século XX.During the first three decades of the twentieth century, Physics underwent significant transformations, enabling the immersion of new theoretical formulations. The discovery of the X-ray, the Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, the notions of Bohr's Complementarity, the discovery of nuclear fission, these are all examples of scientific work based on the premises of Classical Physics that were questioned and gave rise to the development process of Quantum Mechanics. The Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and Bohr's Complementarity theory particularly became essential foundations for the constitution of Quantum Mechanics and the change in theoretical framework, mainly related to the microphysics. Niels Bohr was one of the scientists who devoted most of his life to the development and the theoretical and methodological organization of Quantum Mechanics. The idea of Complementarity was used by the Danish physicist as the most elementary explanation of Quantum Mechanics.
