This present work is an analysis of the technological resource that generated the artistic expression known as ‘Video Mapping’, which consists in projected images over tridimensional surfaces, in small or big proportions. Generally, this manifestation happens in nightclubs, festive environments and in the electronic music scene. This work also consider the evolution of technological apparatuses and its relation with new experiences in the culture and art fields through the use of photography, cinema, video, video-installation, site-specific, video-art, hypermedia narrative and ‘transmedia’. Its purpose is to elucidate the trajectory of VJ artists, beginning with the investigation between art and sound, the first manifestations of hybridization, synchronization of this languages and the insertion of computers in the creation of art pieces. It also discloses the relation in the investigation that influenced the evolution and practice of VJ’s work, supporting the manifestation known as Video Mapping. This work presents practical methods that can contribute to the realization of a Video Mapping experience, as well as it point softwares that are used in this spectacles. The author of this document also discloses about projects of his own authorship, performed during the realization of Masters in Visual Arts accomplished in the Universidade Federal da Paraiba-PB.
