This research presents a study developed in the master's course of the postgraduate program in literature (PPGL-UFPB), having as its object of study literature produced in the Brazilian deaf community of the type adapted in the drama genre. Its general objective is to analyze the semiotic spectacle of a literary work of the drama genre adapted in this linguistic community. This macro objective unfolds into the following specific objectives: Catalog the available works of the drama genre adapted in the Brazilian deaf community; Identify the semiotic values in the selected literary work; Analyze the work based on the levels of the generative path of meaning studied by Greimasian Semiotics. In this unprecedented discussion, we explore the categorization presented by Peixoto (2023), which addresses the literature produced by the deaf community and subdivides it into deaf literature, literature in Libras and other literary productions by members of this linguistic community. Guiding this research, we are based on Greimasian Semiotics, to identify the elements of the generative path of meaning in the work João e Maria Surdos, produced in Libras and Portuguese by students from the UFPB extension course. Among the results obtained during the analysis of the work at the fundamental, narrative and discursive levels, we have the identification and analysis of relevant themes addressed in the work, such as: survival, rejection, abandonment, fight for the rights of the deaf, deception, manipulation, among others. .Furthermore, we found that the drama genre, as an art form of representation on stage, can teach about the cultural values of the deaf community, and needs to be worked on more in the classroom when teaching Libras as a second language (L2).
