The bibliographic study addresses the professional training of archivists in the Northeast region of Brazil, considering the historical, social and political influences that shaped the evolution of archival science over time. These interactions and influences have played a crucial role in defining the training curricula and theoretical-practical skills designed for archivists. The documentary research is based on a comparative analysis between the academic training curricula in archival studies of courses in the Northeast region of Brazil and the skills required by the dynamic job market in the country, using as sources notices of public competitions for Archivists and job advertisements in an online platform. The study specifically focuses on the theoretical-practical skills that support the effective performance of professionals in this field. The research answers the following guiding question: are the skills and abilities outlined in the pedagogical projects of Archival Studies courses in the Northeast of Brazil in line with the demands of the Brazilian job market? It highlights as a general objective: to analyze whether the skills and abilities that make up the Pedagogical Course Projects (PPCs) of Archival Studies courses in the Northeast of Brazil are in line with those required by the Brazilian job market. Starting from the general objective of the research, it lists the following specific objectives: describe the historical memorial process of the curricula of archival courses in Northeast Brazil; outline the competencies and disciplines that make up the PPCs of the Undergraduate Archival Studies courses in Northeast Brazil; identify the skills and abilities required by the Archivist job market in the public and private sectors; compare the skills and abilities that make up the PPCs of the undergraduate Archival Courses in Northeast Brazil with those required by the Brazilian job market. The research is exploratory, descriptive, bibliographic and documentary, using a mixed approach with quantitative and qualitative elements. Bardin's content analysis was used to analyze and interpret the collected data. The results were interpreted in light of the relevant literature, in order to understand the interactions between academic training and the theoretical-practical skills demanded by the job market from archivists in the Brazilian context, highlighting not only points of convergence, but also areas of challenge and potential improvement. Thus, the analysis and interpretation of the results reveal that the academic training of archivists has a primary role in the qualification of these professionals, hence the need to harmonize training with the demands of the job market, with a special focus on theoretical-practical skills. Furthermore, they highlight that the research not only reflected the evidence contained in the analyzes and investigative questions highlighted, but also offered contributions by recommending a collaborative and dynamic approach to the development of curricula and strategies for improving the area of archival science.
