Resumo: Tourism in National Parks is a practice in expansion in Brazil due to the natural and cultural wealth that these areas offer, being defined in the category of ecotourism that allows to highlight the environmental service and the economic importance of the Conservation Units to the society. The study area is the Vale do Capão, located around the Chapada Diamantina National Park, and district of the municipality of Palmeiras-BA, which has had significant urban growth in the last twenty years, due to the tourist activity that attracted outside entrepreneurs, whether of the capital Salvador, or of other states, as well as foreigners. The objective is to analyze the socioenvironmental conflicts between the native inhabitants and the new residents who own the means of lodging and the environmental conservation through ecotourism in the Vale do Capão. It is intended to characterize and problematize the transformations and conflicts in the Vale do Capão with the human occupation around the National Park with the increase of the demand for tourist visitation. In this sense, a field research was carried out with the researcher staying in the study area for a period of 90 days that involved a participant research, in addition to the participant observation and structured interviews with questions directed to each interviewee profile selected for this research, being they, native inhabitants, new residents owners of means of lodging, besides managers of the public power of the total of 26 interviewed. The participant research was motivated by having been detected in a previous research that the local tour guides presented to the visitors very little information about the environment visited along the tracks, and an ecotourism training course was conducted for the guides of the Association of Drivers of Visitors of the Vale do Capão and was attended by 9 participants in the through FLUEX / UFPB joining scientific research and extension. The results of the research allowed a mapping of the means of lodging of the Vale do Capão and its growth in the period from 2000 to 2017 as well as the results of the training and conclusions, it can be affirmed that tourism in the Capão Valley runs the risk of characterize as (in) sustainable due to problems with water distribution, garbage collection, among other factors, which may be a lack of control by municipal and federal management.
