Resumo: This dissertation aims to investigate Hannah Arendt's philosophical and political views through her comprehension of the banality of evil in relation to the faculty of thinking. Faced with the unprecedented evil perpetrated by the nazifascist totalitarian regime, tradition was unable to guide us in face of the moral catastrophes of the twentieth century concerning the nazi totalitarian regime. In Arendt's analysis regarding the desolation of the public sphere, which provides us with the political discourse required to take action on a global scale, man has lost his ability to share those thoughts in a plural way. Since the thinker's attendance at the nazi Adolf Eichmann's trial, Arendt began to establish a direct line between the faculty of thinking and the practice of evil. Throughout this work, we will be able to realize that Arendt didn't bequeath us rules of conduct initially established, but instead, she left us the prospect of understanding our time as long as we don't deprive ourselves of our spiritual faculties that are fundamental to illuminate the future.

Diante do ineditismo do mal perpetrado pelo regime totalitário nazista, a tradição ocidental tornou-se incapaz de nos nortear frente às catástrofes morais do século XX no que concerne ao regime totalitário nazista. Na análise de Arendt, com assolamento da esfera pública, que nos proporciona o discurso político necessário para a ação no mundo, o homem perdeu a sua capacidade de compartilhar o pensamento em um espaço plural. A partir da presença da pensadora no julgamento do nazista Adolf Eichmann, Arendt passou a estabelecer uma relação direta entre a faculdade de pensar e a prática do mal.
