Resumo: This master’s thesis investigates the punk movement in Paraíba during the period from 1988 to 1998, highlighting its expression as a form of cultural and social resistance in a context of democratic transition in Brazil. The research analyzes how punk, with its practices, aesthetics, and values, contributed to the cultural and social landscape of the region, challenging established norms and proposing new forms of sociability. The study is based on a broad literature review, document analysis, interviews with participants from the local punk scene, and examination of cultural productions from the punk and anarchopunk movement. The findings reveal that the punk movement in Paraíba not only reflected the political, economic, and cultural tensions of the time but also actively participated in articulating discourses of resistance, highlighting the importance of self-management and direct communication. The research contributes to studies on countercultural movements, emphasizing the specificity and importance of local expressions within the broader context of global punk culture.
