O método empregado foi o etnográfico físico e digital, recorrendo-se a fontes documentais, entrevistas, conversas informais realizadas em ambientes digitais (WhatsApp e Instagram) e observação participante. O objetivo principal foi investigar as experiências de olindenses com a Covid-19 em ambientes físicos e digitais. Os dados foram classificados em caderno de campo – de observação física e de ambientes digitais (como Facebook, Instagram, YouTube e WhatsApp); mensagens, fontes documentais da Prefeitura de Olinda (boletins epidemiológicos); e entrevistas com duas informantes chaves para a pesquisa, visto que a análise de mensagens e as demais fontes de pesquisa foram suficientes para alcançar os objetivos de pesquisa. A análise, qualitativa, foi feita com auxílio do software Atlas ti.7. Os dados foram codificados e categorizados a partir do marco teórico dos modos de existência, de Latour; e conceituados como mídias sociais, conforme Miller e etnografia em ambientes digitais, conforme Freitas e Ramos, e Leitão e Gomes. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciam que as mídias sociais participam da experiência pandêmica de modo a complementar ou ratificar posicionamentos tanto políticos quantos epistemológicos (referentes a causas e tratamentos da Covid-19). Também foi evidenciado que outras formas de cura, ou de saberes, podem se manter durante a pandemia, também tendo nas mídias sociais ratificações de experiências que outrora poderiam ser chamadas de anímicas, e mais recentemente, new age ou espiritualistas sem, contudo, competirem com a ciência normal e oficial, sobre o que é verdade e o que é crença, ou o que é falso e o que é verdadeiro. Por último, também foi evidenciado que no nível municipal, o uso de mídias sociais durante a pandemia associou a pandemia às eleições municipais de 2020, ao menos no campo de pesquisa. A nível teórico, a pesquisa aponta para a necessidade de ir além de questões de verdade e conhecimento (epistemologia) para seres e realidades (ontologia), visto que ontologicamente, a relação entre pandemia, mídias sociais e experiência (humana e não humana) se mostrou muito além da separação entre ciência/verdade, de um lado, e política do outro.CAPESThis thesis refers to research on the experience of people with the new coronavirus pandemic, during the years 2020 and 2021, in the neighborhood of Ouro Preto, Olinda- PE. The method used was the physical and digital ethnographic, using documentary sources, interviews, informal conversations held in digital environments (WhatsApp and Instagram), and participant observation. The main objective was to investigate the experiences of people from Olinda with Covid-19 in physical and digital environments. Data were classified in a field notebook – physical observation and digital environments (such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp); messages, documentary sources from the Municipality of Olinda (epidemiological bulletins); and interviews with two key informants for the research, since the analysis of messages and other research sources were sufficient to achieve the research objectives. The qualitative analysis was carried out using the Atlas ti.7 software. Data were coded and categorized based on the theoretical framework of modes of existence, by Latour; and conceptualized as social media, according to Miller, and ethnography in digital environments, according to Freitas and Ramos, and Leitão and Gomes. The survey results show that social media participation in the pandemic experience complements or ratifies both political and epistemological positions (referring to the causes and treatments of Covid-19). It was also evidenced that other forms of healing, or knowledge, can be maintained during the pandemic, also having in social media, ratifications of experiences that once could be called psychic, and more recently, new age or spiritualists without, however, competing with normal and official science, about what is true and what is belief, or what is false and what is true. Finally, it was also shown that, at the municipal level, the use of social media during the pandemic associated the pandemic with the 2020 municipal elections, at least in the research field.
