O HPgV parece desempenhar um mecanismo de interação com o HIV, através da alteração do meio de citocina/quimiocina, destacando a regulação ascendente das citocinas Th1 e a regulação negativa das citocinas Th2, favorecendo um melhor prognóstico com a diminuição da IL-4 e IL-10. Considerando que a concentração de citocinas no soro de indivíduos coinfectados HIV/HPgV é importante para uma melhor compreensão dos aspectos imunológicos o objetivo desse estudo foi determinar as concentrações séricas da IL-4 e IL-10 em pessoas coinfectadas HIV/HPgV e monoinfectadas pelo HIV, e verificar a associação entre as concentrações dessas citocinas com a carga viral do HIV e do HPgV, e a contagem de linfócitos TCD4. Trata-se de um estudo analítico do tipo caso-controle, realizado com 105 pacientes atendidos no Hospital das Clínicas da UFPE, com média de idade de 40,5 anos, entre os pacientes 54%(57/105) eram do sexo masculino. A quantificação das citocinas foi realizada por cytometric bead array (CBA) utilizando kits comerciais Becton Dickinson (BD) no citômetro BD FACSCalibur. Entre os pacientes 70 eram monoinfectados pelo HIV e 35 eram coinfectados HIV/HPgV, a mediana da carga viral do HIV foi mais elevada no grupo de pacientes monoinfectados, a mediana da contagem de linfócitos TCD4 apresentou-se semelhante nos dois grupos. As médias das concentrações da IL-4 e IL10 foram mais elevadas nos pacientes coinfectados, com a IL-4 apresentando valores significativos (p=0.0013).The interaction between HPgV and HIV is associated with greater survival in those coinfected with decreased progression to AIDS. HPgV appears to play a mechanism of interaction with HIV through cytokine/chemokine media alteration, highlighting the upward regulation of Th1 cytokines and the negative regulation of Th2 cytokines, such as the decrease of IL-4 and IL-10. Considering that the serum cytokine concentration of HIV/HPgV coinfected individuals is important for a better understanding of the immunological aspects, the objective of this study was to determine the serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-10 in HIV/HPgV coinfected and HIV-monoinfected persons, and to verify the association between the concentrations of these cytokines with the viral load of HIV and HPgV, and the count of TCD4 lymphocytes. It is an analytical study of the case-control type, carried out with 105 patients attended at the Hospital das Clínicas of Federal University of Pernambuco, with a mean age of 40.5 years, among the patients 54% (57/105) were males.
