Defesa : Curitiba, 23/02/2023Inclui referênciasResumo: A African Blood Brotherhood (ABB) foi uma organização secreta, e radical, de libertação do povo negro, fundada em 1919 por imigrantes afro-caribenhos em conjunto com afro-estadunidenses, atuando no contexto dos Estados Unidos no início do século XX. Através de seu principal meio de difusão de ideias, o periódico The Crusader, essa sociedade trouxe para a discussão as complexidades das relações de poder do sistema estadunidense. Criado em 1918, a revista interpretava a situação dos negros nos EUA e no globo com um viés radical contra a exploração e violência racial. Introduzindo novas interpretações para o debate da opressão e violência racial, as relações da modernidade e os processos de dominação. O objetivo desta dissertação consiste em entender como a ABB lidava com os processos dinâmicos da modernidade a partir do The Crusader. Para tanto, partimos de uma perspectiva teóricometodológica inspirada nos debates afrodiaspóricos, assim como os estudos da historiadora Tânia Regina de Luca para análise de periódicos. Dedicamos o primeiro capítulo para compreendermos os principais membros e a formação da organização, dentro da conjuntura dinâmica da diáspora. Assim como a historiografia escrita sobre a ABB. No segundo capítulo, apresentamos os aspectos contextuais em que essa irmandade está inserida, dando foco para a história dos Estados Unidos. A partir do terceiro capítulo adentramos nos processos que eles buscavam abordar, como por exemplo as relações entre orgulho racial, educação, história e a autodefesa negra. Por fim, com o quarto capítulo trabalhamos com os embates que a ABB teve com seus contemporâneos e a perspectiva pan-africanista internacionalista que procurou desenvolver.Abstract: The African Blood Brotherhood (ABB) was a secret, radical, organization for the liberation of black people, founded in 1919 by Afro-Caribbean immigrants together with African-Americans, acting in the context of the United States in the early twentieth century. Through its main means of disseminating ideas, The Crusader, this society brought to the discussions the complexities of power relations of the United States system. Created in the 1918, the magazine interpreted the situation of blacks in the U.S. and around the globe with a radical bias against exploitation and racial violence. Introducing new interpretations for the debate of oppression and racial violence, the relation of modernity and the processes of domination. The aim of this dissertation is to understand how ABB dealt with the dynamic processes of modernity from The Crusader. To this end, we start from a theorical-methodological perspective inspired by the Afrodiasporic debates, as well as the studies of historian Tânia Regina de Luca for the analysis of periodicals. We dedicate the first chapter to understanding the main members and the formations of the organization, within the dynamic conjuncture of the diaspora. As the historiography written about ABB. In the Second chapter, we present the contextual aspects in which this Brotherhood is inserted, focusing on the history of the United States. From the third chapter we entered the processes they sought to address, for example, the relationship between racial pride, education, history and black self-defense.
