Defesa : Curitiba, 17/08/2022Inclui referências: p. 95-99Resumo: O presente trabalho busca contribuir para o debate acerca do tempo histórico em África de modo a compreender qual posição Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) e seu livro Razão na História ocupam na construção da imagem ahistórica do continente, bem como qual foi o papel desempenhado por Kwame Nkrumah (1909-1972) na crítica a esta noção de África, ou seja, no esforço de apresentar a África como continente dotado de tempo histórico. Hegel foi um filósofo germânico do Idealismo Alemão conhecido por obras como Fenomenologia do Espírito, Princípios da Filosofia do Direito, Ciência da Lógica, entre outros. Em suas palestras sobre sua proposta de uma história universal filosófica, enquanto professor da Universidade de Berlim, Hegel atribuiu à África uma condição apartada da história. Estas palestras foram publicadas postumamente na forma do livro Razão na História e são vistas como o ponto culminante de uma tradição ocidental que construiu uma imagem africana com esta característica. Por sua vez, Nkrumah foi um político e intelectual nascido na colônia britânica da Costa do Ouro com intensa militância pela independência em relação ao colonialismo europeu de sua terra natal e do continente africano como um todo. Liderou este movimento na Costa do Ouro e tornou-se seu chefe de Estado quando da sua independência em 1957, rebatizando o país como Gana. Durante seu período de militância escreveu diversos livros vinculados ao projeto político de libertação e unificação africana: Rumo a libertação colonial, Consciencismo, Neocolonialismo, África deve se unir!, Luta de classes na África, entre outros. Para fins deste trabalho, tomamos como fontes primárias os livros Razão na História e Fenomenologia do Espírito de Hegel, e Consciencismo, Luta de classes na África e África deve se unir! de Nkrumah. Outras obras que tivemos acesso dos dois autores foram tomadas como fontes secundárias. Para a análise das fontes, optamos por uma abordagem de história intelectual com base nos apontamentos teóricos e metodológicos de Reinhardt Koselleck e Quentin Skinner além do debate realizado por Achille Mbembe quanto às formas africanas de auto-inscrição. Dessa forma, as questões que guiaram esta pesquisa foram: Como Hegel explica a ahistoricidade da África dentro de seu sistema filosófico? Como Nkrumah elabora a África enquanto um continente dotado de tempo histórico? Há um diálogo entre os dois argumentos? A análise das fontes e o contato com a bibliografia especializada nos levou a uma relação entre tempo histórico e a noção de trabalho estabelecida por ambos para justificar suas posições quanto à historicidade africana, de modo que mesmo com conclusões opostas, ambos se aproximam na origem de seus argumentos.Abstract: The present work seeks to contribute to the debate about historical time in Africa in order to understand which position Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) and his book Reason in History occupy in the construction of the ahistorical image of the continent, as well as what was the role played by Kwame Nkrumah (1909-1972) in the critique of this notion of Africa, that is, in the effort to present Africa as a continent endowed with historical time. Hegel was a Germanic philosopher of German Idealism known for works such as Phenomenology of Spirit, Principles of the Philosophy of Right, Science of Logic, among others. In his lectures on his proposal for a philosophical universal history, while a professor at the University of Berlin, Hegel attributed to Africa a condition separated from history. These lectures were published posthumously in the form of the book Reason in History and are seen as the culmination of a Western tradition that built an African image with this characteristic. In turn, Nkrumah was a politician and intellectual born in the British colony of the Gold Coast with intense militancy for independence from the European colonialism of his homeland and the African continent as a whole. He led this movement on the Gold Coast and became its head of state upon independence in 1957, renaming the country Ghana. During his militancy period he wrote several books linked to the political project of African liberation and unification: Towards colonial freedom, Consciencism, Neocolonialism, Africa must unite!, Class struggle in Africa, among others. For the purposes of this work, we took as primary sources the books Reason in the History and Phenomenology of Spirit, written by Hegel, and Consciencism, Class struggle in Africa and Africa must unite! of Nkrumah. Other works that we had access to by the two authors were taken as secondary sources. For the analysis of the sources, we opted for an approach of intellectual history based on the theoretical and methodological notes of Reinhardt Koselleck and Quentin Skinner, in addition to the debate carried out by Achille Mbembe regarding the African forms of self-inscription. Thus, the questions that guided this research were: How does Hegel explain the ahistoricity of Africa within his philosophical system? How does Nkrumah elaborate Africa as a continent endowed with historical time? Is there a dialogue between the two arguments?
