Naipaul. Através de uma abordagem textual examinamos os ambientes percorridos pela personagem Singh, tentando evidenciar os contrastes existentes entre os mundos de Isabella, Londres e o Ideal. Outro aspecto desta busca é destacar atravês do elemento temporal as quatro fases do ciclo vivido pela personagem. Na introdução delimitamos o que entendemos por busca da ordem e estabelecemos o nosso objetivo dentro da obra. No primeiro capítulo apresentamos a LITERATURA NAS ÍNDIAS OCIDENTAIS juntamente com outros dados geográficos, biográficos e crítica. No segundo capitulo, ESPAÇOS CONFRONTADOS DA ORDEM E DA DESORDEM, verificamos o deslocamento da personagem entre os Mundos Ideal, Isabella e Londres. No terceiro capitulo, A PERSONAGEM E A BUSCA DA ORDEM , apresentamos cronologicamente as fases vividas pelo protagonista. 0 tempo dentro da narrativa ê apresentado por meio das quatro fases, que o próprio Singh divide em: "Student", "Householder", "Man of Affairs", e, "Exile.", sendo os espaços de ação do protagonista conhecidos através do desenvolvimento de cada uma destas fases. Finalmente, a CONCLUSÃO nos leva a uma apreciação sobre a obra e a busca da ordem dentro do enfoque a que nos propomos.Abstract : The main purpose of this dissertation is to examine the theme of the search for order in Naipaul's novel The Mimic Men. Through a textual approach we examine the settings in which the main character, Singh, has been during his life, trying to point out the contrasts which exist between his ideal world, Isabella and London. Another aspect of this approach is to make evident, through the temporal element, the fourfold division that composes his life cycle. The INTRODUCTION delimits the objective of this thesis and what we mean by the search for order. In the first chapter, we present WEST INDIAN LITERATURE as well as other geographical, biographical and critical data. In the second chapter, THE CONFRONTATION OF SETTINGS, we examine the dislocation of the main character from his Ideal World, Isabella and London. In the third chapter, THE CHARACTER AND HIS SEARCH FOR ORDER, we present chronologically the phases lived.by the protagonist. Time in the narrative is presented by- means of several phases, which Singh himself divides into "Student", "Householder", "Man of Affairs" and "Exile". The locals where the protagonist's actions take place are known through the development of each, of these phases.
