Danto responde à pergunta com a qual inicia sua investigação filosófica acerca da arte, a saber, "o que faz de um objeto comum uma obra de arte?". Para tanto, recorrerei a dois artigos fundamentais: "The Artworld", de 1964, em que Danto introduz o conceito de "mundo da arte" como resposta à pergunta inicial e "The Art World Revisited: Comedies of Similarities", de 1992, em que o autor oferece uma nova visada de seu conceito original. Com vistas a esclarecer o conceito de "mundo da arte" e avaliar em que medida ele cumpre o objetivo proposto irei realizar três passos: a caracterização adequada dos termos do problema env lvido na investigação de Danto a partir do ambiente da arte nova-iorquino entre as décadas de 1950 e 1960; a apresentação da primeira resposta de Danto como oferecida em "The Artworld", em 1964; e, por fim, a verificação da persistência do conceito de "mundo da arte" no corpo da filosofia da arte de Danto a partir do artigo "The Art World Revisited: Comedies of Similarities", de 1992.Abstract: The present work aims at understanding how the philosopher Arthur C. Danto answers the question with which he starts his philosophical investigation on art, namely, "what turns a common object into a work of art?". In order to do so, I will resort to two fundamental articles: the 1964 "The Artworld", where Danto introduces the concept of "artworld" as the answer to the former question, and the 1992 "The Art World Revisited: Comedies of Similarities", where the author offers a revision of his original concept.
