O esporte no contexto escolar: uma experiência com a modalidade de peteca nos anos finais do ensino fundamental

Physical Education as a curricular component of basic education has undergone and continues to undergo a process of transformation and redefinition of its real purpose in the educational context. For a long time, the focus of the discipline was the training of bodies as objects for the interests of a capitalist society. Thus, it is observed a still current reality in which sports are used as training with mechanical and pre-established movements. Based on this, this study has as main purpose to reflect on the experimentation of a didactic-pedagogical proposal for the game of “peteca” in Physical Education classes, with students in the final years of Elementary School at a public school in the state of Ceará and the specific objectives are: a) to develop, experiment, and describe a pedagogical sequence for teaching the sport of “peteca” to middle school students, based on a critical-emancipatory conception; b) to produce a booklet containing the didactic sequence of the lessons implemented during the pedagogical intervention; c) to evaluate the students’ participation after the “peteca” content in Physical Education classes. For this purpose, the research is classified as qualitative in nature, characterized as action research conducted during Physical Education classes with 9th-grade students at Tarcila Cruz Alencar Elementary School, in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. The instruments used for data collection were participant observation through field diary and questionnaire application, as well as imagery resources of videos and photos. The research was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and registered in the “Plataforma Brasil” with opinion number 5,997,955, on April 12, 2023. In addition, it complies with the Research Resolution with Human Beings CNS 466/12, considering respect for human dignity and protection of participants in scientific research involving human beings. The results were analyzed and described through records and observations of the teacher-researcher through field diary, vídeos, photos and questionnaires conducted with the students. Then, the pedagogical intervention achieved its purpose of allowing new possibilities in dealing with sports in the school context based on the presentation of a didactic-pedagogical plan for teaching the shuttlecock modality to assist school Physical Education teachers. Breaking with the paradigms of performance sports as a teaching proposal in basic education is a possible challenge when proposing to understand and reflect on the meaning of sports for educational purposes. According to the results obtained, dealing with sports through a critical-emancipatory teaching conception enabled greater student participation, generating inclusion and respect for differences, as well as stimulating coeducation, autonomy, and creativity. For these reasons, this dissertation contributes to various researches related to pedagogical practices on the sports content from a critical-emancipatory perspective as something necessary and achievable.
