Flood risk analysis has been gained greater relevance in the context of climate change in the face of exposure and adaptation to extreme weather events, in the context of the area studied, the presence of residences very close to each other was perceived on the banks of urban rivers and their consequent occupation within river APPs that may be susceptible to the risk of flooding. The objective is to carry out an analysis of the landscape units, the identification of residential units that are in APPs associated with the banks of rivers and flood risk situation within the urban area of the municipality of Currais Novos – RN. A bibliographic survey on the subject was carried out. Analyses were carried out in a SIG environment, with the use of QGIS software, mapping the landscape units, APPs and areas susceptible to flood risk based on morphological variables, morphometric and hydrological. Sixteen geotopes distributed in five geofacies were identified, among which the urbanized Pediplane predominates with more than 50%, then the alluvial plain with degraded caatinga with approximately 12% and the Pediplano with degraded caatinga occupying a little more than 8% of the study area, located within the Borborema Plateau geocomplex. It is possible to conclude from the results obtained that the methods of identification and delimitation of the landscape units and flood risk areas proved to be satisfactory for the proposed theme and can serve to subsidize the municipality's environmental planning and territorial planning policies.
