The parturition process is dynamic, complex and requires comprehensive and safe care. Despite this need, the logic of health work is still marked by the fragmentation of practices, typical of the professional-centered model. Based on this problem, interprofessional education can be adopted to qualify staff for effective teamwork in meeting the needs related to women's health care in the parturition period. The aim of the research was to systematize a process of in-service qualification for women's health care in the parturition process, based on the theoreticalconceptual and methodological foundations of interprofessional education. A methodological study with a qualitative approach was carried out with professionals and residents working in the obstetrics department of the Hospital do Seridó, in the city of Caicó-RN. The study included establishing the conceptual framework; defining the competencies and objectives; constructing the items in the proposal; selecting and organizing the items. Data was collected through semistructured interviews. The data collected was analyzed using thematic categorical analysis. The thematic categories found were multi-professional work: little interaction and team identity issues; user-centered care; limited understanding of professional roles; collaborative work and the training process. The educational offer addressed the aspects identified in the thematic categories. The structure of the educational offer was organized into expected competences, learning objectives, teaching methodologies, teaching-learning scenarios, learning assessment and evaluation of the educational offer. As a result, an e-book was produced as an educational product and the entire proposal was guided by the explicit pedagogical intention of developing interprofessional competencies for providing comprehensive and safe care to women during the childbirth process.
