Frente parlamentar evangélica e governismo: uma análise da bancada evangélica na Câmara Federal na 55ª e 56ª legislatura nos Governos Dilma II, Temer e Bolsonaro

In Brazil, evangelical churches had an important role in the last elections, electing a significant number of parliamentarians. Within the Federal Chamber, deputies from this religious bloc meet in a parliamentary front that acts as an interest group. The neoconservative wave that led to the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff (2016) and which culminated in the election of Jair Bolsonaro (2018) is based on evangelical churches and militarism. This research sought to unravel the behavior of the evangelical parliamentary front in relation to the agendas of the Dilma Roussef, Michel Temer and Jair Bolsonaro governments. Based on the database provided by the Chamber of Deputies through the Basômetro tool, we carried out a quantitative analysis of the votes of the Evangelical parliamentary front in projects of interest to these respective governments. The results showed that the government of President Michel Temer is the one that received the greatest adherence from the evangelical bench. Finally, this work sheds light on the direction that contemporary Brazilian politics is taking, as well as accompanying its movements and its new characteristics by investigating whether the evangelical bench remained ideologically faithful to its religious foundations when it passed through “left” governments, “center” or “right”.
