This professional master's degree project consists of the elaboration of an architectural project for an oceanarium for socio-educational use, aimed at promoting an ECA (Environmental Conservation Area) Costa dos Corais with an emphasis on bamboo architecture and its structural system. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project. It was developed with the objective of understanding and designing a tropical building in bamboo (Guadua angustifolia), in view of the negative environmental impact that industrialized materials (also called conventional materials) cause in the environment and in view of the increasing urgency to seek a more sustainable architecture and in harmony with nature. In order to develop an architectural proposal, a theoretical-conceptual review on the theme was devised through bibliographic research and studies of previous and related design references; then, the architectural programming was developed with definition of dilemmas and goals of the project. From this base, and with the support of the course subjects, the design process was developed and mapped, via registration in analog and digital media from the initial stages of studies of constraints, design and development of the architectural party. The work aimed at studying the architectural environment to maximize the mechanical properties of bamboo and thermal comfort in the building. As a result of the studies and simulations carried out, a proposal was reached in entrance porches with internal pointed arches that support a large covering of piassava fiber, under which the oceanarium was conceived. The project takes advantage of the climatic conditions of the region using it in its favor, translating the characteristics of a bamboo architecture, which is harmoniously implanted in the hot and humid tropical environment.
