Resumo: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a talc containing cypermethrin and carbaryl on adults fleas Ctenocephalides felis felis and adult ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus in dogs. For that, it was used 12 Beagle dogs that were divided into two groups, in which six animals were sprinkled with talc and the other six with no treatment (control). Each dog was infested with 50 pairs of C. felis felis and 25 pairs of R. sanguineus weekly until day +14 ticks for the day and up to +35 for fleas. Forty-eight hours after, the infestations were evaluated with counting fleas and ticks recovered in living animals. All animals were evaluated weekly in relation to clinical signs consistent with poisoning. The efficacy of C. felis felis was above 80% until day +28 after treatment. The efficacy for R. sanguineus was above 80% until day +2. It was evident that the talc at the basis of Carbaryl and Cypermethrin showed better efficacy against C. felis felis, but for R. sanguineus it was efficiency just on first day, what means that is still necessary future studies to evaluate a better efficacy according to the product tested.

Para isso foram utilizados 12 c?es da ra?a Beagle, divididos em dois grupos, onde em seis animais foram polvilhados com o talco e os outros seis sem nenhum tratamento (controle). Cada c?o foi infestado com 50 machos e 50 f?meas de C. felis felis e 25 machos e 25 f?meas de R. sanguineus, semanalmente at? o dia +14 para carrapatos e at? o dia + 35 para pulgas. Quarenta e oito horas ap?s as infesta??es foram realizadas avalia??es com contagem de pulgas e cata??o manual de carrapatos vivos recuperados nos animais. A efic?cia para C. felis felis foi de 100%; 100%; 99,73%; 97,86%; 94,91%; 73,62%, nos dias +2,+7,+14,+21,+28 e +35 ap?s tratamento, respectivamente. A efic?cia para R. sanguineus foi de 100%; 72,62%; 42,59% nos dias +2,+7 e +21 ap?s tratamento, respectivamente. description The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a talc containing cypermethrin and carbaryl on adults fleas Ctenocephalides felis felis and adult ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus in dogs. For that, it was used 12 Beagle dogs that were divided into two groups, in which six animals were sprinkled with talc and the other six with no treatment (control). Each dog was infested with 50 pairs of C. felis felis and 25 pairs of R. sanguineus weekly until day +14 ticks for the day and up to +35 for fleas. Forty-eight hours after, the infestations were evaluated with counting fleas and ticks recovered in living animals. All animals were evaluated weekly in relation to clinical signs consistent with poisoning. The efficacy of C. felis felis was above 80% until day +28 after treatment. The efficacy for R. sanguineus was above 80% until day +2. It was evident that the talc at the basis of Carbaryl and Cypermethrin showed better efficacy against C. felis felis, but for R. sanguineus it was efficiency just on first day, what means that is still necessary future studies to evaluate a better efficacy according to the product tested.
