Resumo: | The present work aimed to evaluate the effect of products Metarril SP Organic and Metarril plus 10% mineral oil in the control of Rhipicephalus microplus ticks, and having as specific goals: to evaluate in vitro the effect of Metarril aqueous suspension and oil-based formulation on engorged females of R. microplus ticks, in different relative humidity levels; to investigate the effect of Metarril SP Organic plus 10% mineral oil on R. microplus ticks in pen and field tests. For the test with humidity variation, four groups were formed (aqueous control, oil control, aqueous Metarril, oil Metarril) for each relative humidity level considered (30, 50, 70 and 90%). Females of R. microplus were submerged into the suspension or formulation of the corresponding treatment. Subsequently, the females were kept inside desiccators with the corresponding relative humidity and temperature of 25 ? 1 ?C. Each group had ten females. The eggs of each female were collected, stored individually and kept inside the desiccators for later evaluation of biological parameters. For the pen and field tests, three groups were formed: control, oil control and oil Metarril. In the pen test each group had six cattle, each of them being sprayed with 3L of formulation. A treatment was performed on day zero. All ticks fallen from the bodies of animals were counted daily and a sample of 20 engorged females per group was incubated for evaluation of biological parameters. In the field tests, each group had ten cattle, being each one sprayed with 4L of formulation per treatment. Two treatments were performed, one on day 0 and other on day +3. All females between 4,5 and 8,0 mm of length on the left side of the animals were counted on days +7, +14 and +21 after each treatment and a sample of ten engorged females per group was randomly selected for the evaluation of biological parameters. The fungal suspensions and formulations used in all experiments had 10? conidia/mL. In the in vitro test, the Metarril aqueous suspension was shown to be effective against R. microplus females only under higher relative humidity levels (70 and 90%). On the other hand, the oil-based formulation of Metarril was effective under all relative humidity levels considered. In the in vivo tests, the oil-based formulation of Metarril SP Organic presented effectiveness from 8,23 to 67,39% and from 8,53 to 90,53% for pen and field tests, respectively. The average effectiveness of the oil-based formulation of Metarril SP Organic was of 47,74 and 75,09% in pen and field tests, respectively. Significant changes in the biological parameters of R. microplus females were observed on the first three days following the treatment in the pen tests, and on the 14? day after the second treatment in the field tests. These results suggest that the formulations of Metarril and Metarril SP Organic, plus 10% mineral oil, are effective in the control of R. microplus both in laboratory and environmental conditions, being important tools for the control of this tick. |

Submitted by Jorge Silva (jorgelmsilva@ufrrj.br) on 2019-11-12T17:59:03Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2014 - Mariana Guedes Camargo.pdf: 2044490 bytes, checksum: ba60c62698f21b5d51c65d940d52c114 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-11-12T17:59:03Z (GMT). The present work aimed to evaluate the effect of products Metarril SP Organic and Metarril plus 10% mineral oil in the control of Rhipicephalus microplus ticks, and having as specific goals: to evaluate in vitro the effect of Metarril aqueous suspension and oil-based formulation on engorged females of R. microplus ticks, in different relative humidity levels; to investigate the effect of Metarril SP Organic plus 10% mineral oil on R. microplus ticks in pen and field tests. |
