Resumo: This work was motivated by the low yield problem that students in the first years of high school of a state school of the Vassouras city, RJ, were having before, both internal school ratings, as the external evaluations (such as SAERJ). A major difficulty of these students is on issues related to numeracy. This situation suggests two lines of research: the first is the search for non-traditional methods of teaching mathematics that provide a more concrete and meaningful learning for students of basic education; On the other hand, it is important to assess whether the degree in mathematics courses are providing to prospective teachers of this course a solid training and appropriate concerning the numerical sets and teaching methodologies that theme. The project consists of a proposed non-traditional activities on the subject of real numbers, issue this that is displayed in the first two months of the first year of high school and is a foundation for all the mathematics content that will be addressed in subsequent marking periods, such as functions, complex numbers and trigonometry. This proposal is based on performing with these students some activities that explore the playful, through mathematical games. Also sought to explore some cross-cutting issues, contextualizing the concept of real numbers through everyday situations these students. At the same time, we carried out a survey of students of degree in mathematics from UFRRJ and are fellows of the Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Inicia??o ? Doc?ncia (PIBID), in order to understand what these licensees think about the real numbers, both Formally and mathematician as on teaching strategies that subject.

Uma grande dificuldade desses alunos se encontra nas quest?es referentes ao conhecimento num?rico. Essa situa??o sugere duas linhas de investiga??o: a primeira consiste na busca por metodologias n?o-tradicionais de ensino da matem?tica que propiciem uma aprendizagem mais concreta e significativa para o aluno da educa??o b?sica; por outro lado, ? importante avaliar se os cursos de licenciatura em matem?tica est?o propiciando aos futuros professores desta disciplina uma forma??o s?lida e adequada acerca dos conjuntos num?ricos e das metodologias de ensino desse tema. O projeto consiste numa proposta de atividades n?o-tradicionais sobre o tema n?meros reais, assunto este que ? apresentado no primeiro bimestre da primeira s?rie do Ensino M?dio e que ? um pilar para todos os conte?dos de Matem?tica que ser?o abordados nos bimestres posteriores, como as fun??es, os n?meros complexos e a trigonometria. Tal proposta ? baseada em realizar com esses alunos algumas atividades que explorem o l?dico, atrav?s de jogos matem?ticos. Tamb?m se buscou explorar alguns temas transversais, contextualizando o conceito de n?mero real atrav?s de situa??es do cotidiano desses alunos. Paralelamente, realizou-se uma pesquisa com alunos do curso de licenciatura em matem?tica da UFRRJ e que s?o bolsistas do Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Inicia??o ?
