Resumo: The objective of the present work is to study the dichotomy between secondary school and technical education which has worried the society as a whole. Along the study, the relations among institutions were observed, in order to understand how they happen, on their way through ideology of the dominants in the main Ideological State Apparatuses (ISAs) which is school. This qualitative research was developed based on the principal historical events for education in Brazil. For better understanding, a historical review was done since settlement in Brazil emphasizing the government reforms established in this area, including their complete analyses. Educational legislation was reviewed through the paper. By the end, the repercussions for the set up of the latest reforms at Col?gio T?cnico da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (CTUR) were analyzed, focusing on the decade of 1990. Just as a matter of conclusion, we observed that the school, through the years, has worked as an ISAs reproducing ideologies and social inequalities. Therefore, the research also indicated actions which could be taken in order to change the school merely reproducer into an important tool for social transformation. These actions go through a completely new curricular structure and democratization of access means into both Public High School and University. Improvement of the Public Elementary School and teacher formation are also indicated as important factors for overcoming the educational duality in Brazil.

Ao longo do estudo, priorizamos, sobretudo, as rela??es entre as institui??es, no intuito de entender como elas ocorrem, percorrendo os caminhos da ideologia dominante, num dos principais Aparelhos Ideol?gicos do Estado que ? a Escola. A pesquisa de cunho qualitativo se desenvolveu, com base nos principais precedentes hist?ricos da educa??o no Brasil. Para melhor compreens?o, foi feita uma retrospectiva hist?rica, desde o Brasil Col?nia, com ?nfase nas reformas governamentais implementadas na ?rea da educa??o, incluindo suas causas e efeitos. A legisla??o educacional pertinente foi estudada, nos seus principais marcos. Ao final, foram analisados os reflexos da implanta??o das reformas educaciona is, no Col?gio T?cnico da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (CTUR), com ?nfase na reforma ocorrida na d?cada de 1990. A guisa de conclus?es observou-se que a escola tem, atrav?s dos tempos, atuado como Aparelho Ideol?gico do Estado, reproduzindo ideologias e desigualdades sociais. No entanto, a pesquisa tamb?m apontou a??es que podem transformar a escola de mera reprodutora em importante componente da transforma??o social. Essas a??es passam por uma nova estrutura curricular e pela democratiza??o do acesso, tanto ao ensino m?dio, quanto ao ensino superior.
