This dissertation investigates self-writing as a practice of subjectivation in the face of traumatic experience, through the production of letters addressed to the Italian writer Elena Ferrante. By engaging with her literary works — especially The Days of Abandonment, the Neapolitan Novels and Frantumaglia — as well as with the writings of other women and key psychoanalytic references (Freud, Lacan, Márcia Rosa), the study explores the possibility of symbolically reinscribing events marked by domestic violence, abandonment, and rupture. The epistolary form emerges as a way to contour the real, operating as a symbolic supplement to what could not be verbalized at the time it occurred. The absence of the addressee and the address to an absent author function as a scene of listening and enunciation, enabling the researcher to narrate herself and make sense of her own story. It is, therefore, a writing formed between echoes, silences, and fractures — one that finds in Ferrante’s literature, and in the tradition of women who write themselves, a space for subjective reinvention.
