Resumo: An investigation into ways to develop Sergipe state narratives through the art of cinema encounters the creation of two artists of senegalese origins: Safi Faye and Mati Diop. The research begins with a critical analysis of classic screenwriting books, such as those by Mckee (2006), Field (2001) and Turby (2008), which, despite offering valuable information about narrative elements, predominantly focus on USA industrial cinema. This analysis is made in dialogue with Carriére (2014) and Tucker (via his YouTube channel Lessons from the screenplay (2016-2022)), both bringing more information about Hollywood narratives. The research methodology adopts a study of artistic creative processes, as proposed by Salles (1998) and (2010), emphasizing an individualized perspective initially and the broadening to a cosmic notion in conversation with Sauvagnargues (2020), Guattari (2019) and Silva (2020). The investigation focuses on observing practices adopted by filmmakers in creative contexts akin to Sergipe or that could provide information applicable in the state’s artistic creation. It centers on the African and Afrodiasporic territories, particularly on female creations, based on Sacramento (2017) e (2019), Ghil (2023), Oliveira (2017) and (2019), Gomes (2017), Ribeiro (2017), Faye (2010), Diop (2019) and Diop and Feitas (2021). Specifically, senegalese cinema is examined, embracing its people's diaspora and studying the creation of two filmmakers: senegalese Safi Faye (1943-2023) and french-senegalese Mati Diop (1982-). Hartman (2020) contributes to the observation of these creations by delving into critical fabulation, offering a perspective that transgresses conventional temporalities on narrative construction and storytelling. Drawing from the studied artists creative processes, I engage with Martins (2002), González (1988) and Nascimento (2006) and document their impact on me through a cultural artistic project aimed at applying this knowledge and registering, in a collective and diverse manner, experiences of a rural outlying area in Estância-SE: the Alecrim neighborhood.
