Resumo: The present work, entitled “Sergipe Education as a cinematographic representation: reflections based on the documentaries Carregadoras de Sonhos (2010), by director Deivison Fiúza, and Atravessa a Vida (2021)”, by director João Jardim, aims, in general, to understand how national cinema has represented the problems of Brazilian education, especially in Sergipe, mapping the political-educational challenges, mainly the daily tensions in the school environment and their impacts on its social agents (teachers, students and the community in its surroundings). Specifically, the research aims to demarcate the cinematographic productions that have problematized Brazilian education in the last 20 years, especially in Sergipe; to understand how social and educational issues are debated in film contexts; to establish connections between educational issues and their forms of representation, expression and demand in the documentaries Carriers of Dreams and Atravessa a Vida. As for the methodology adopted in this work, we opted for thematic analysis, supported by authors such as Penafria (2009), and Bill Nichols with his concept of documentary voice. Thus, the thematic film analysis leads us to a detailed examination, a fragmentation of the film. In addition, it corresponds to a decomposition, that is, describing and then establishing relations between these decomposed elements, that is, interpreting. This research was structured in four sections: the first is the introduction, which contains the outline and delimitation of the theme addressed in the study. In the second section, we dedicate ourselves to understanding the documentary, both in the appreciation of general concepts and their implications in Brazil. The third section was dedicated to the debate surrounding the creation of a national education system, as well as a national education project. Section four was dedicated to the analysis of the two documentaries that served as the corpus of the research. In view of this, we concluded that the way education is represented and demonstrated in “Carregadoras de Sonhos” involves the display of poor working conditions, double or even triple work shifts, which can harm the quality of education due to teacher fatigue, and this happens due to the gap in pay and lack of appreciation for teachers. In “Atravessa a Vida”, the way education is represented involves understanding that phenomenon from a broader perspective.

De modo específico, a pesquisa pretende demarcar as produções cinematográficas que nos últimos 20 anos têm problematizado a educação brasileira, de modo especial a sergipana; compreender como as problemáticas sociais e educacionais são debatidas nos contextos fílmicos; estabelecer nexos entre as problemáticas educacionais e suas formas de representação, expressão e reivindicação nos documentários Carregadoras de Sonhos e Atravessa a Vida. Quanto à metodologia adotada no presente trabalho, optamos pela Análise temática, amparados em autores como Penafria (2009), e Bill Nichols com seu conceito de voz do documentário. Desse modo, a análise fílmica temática que nos remete a um exame detalhado, uma fragmentação do filme. Para além disso, ela corresponde a uma decomposição, isto é, descrever e em seguida estabelecer relações entre esses elementos decompostos, ou seja, interpretar. A presente pesquisa fora estruturada em quatro seções: a primeira é a introdução, que contém o recorte e a delimitação da temática abordada no estudo. Na segunda seção dedicamos a compreensão do documentário, tanto na apreciação dos conceitos gerais até suas implicações no Brasil. A terceira seção fora dedicada ao debate entorno da criação de um sistema nacional de educação, bem como um projeto nacional de educação. A seção de número quatro fora dedicada a análise dos dois documentários que serviram como corpus da pesquisa. Diante disso, concluímos que o modo de representação da educação descrito e evidenciado em “Carregadoras de Sonhos” passa pela exibição das más condições de trabalho, pelas duplas ou até mesmo triplas jornadas de trabalho, que pode prejudicar a qualidade do ensino em função do cansaço do professor, e isso acontece pelo fato da defasagem na remuneração e não valorização do docente.
