Resumo: This research aimed to analyze the political disputes that took place in Sergipe at the beginning of the Republic and whose main actors were the historical republicans Against the old monarchist groups that adhered to the new system of government after the coup of November 15, 1889. Purpose to study the political practices adopted by both groups, how the disputes for power occurred and what changes occurred in the political scenario in Sergipe after the regime change. The study consisted of analyzing historical sources such as newspapers, literary works by historical republicans, letter of adhesion to the Republic made bye x-monarchists, among others.

Teve como finalidade estudar as práticas políticas adotadas por ambos os grupos, como ocorriam as disputas pelo poder e quais as mudanças que ocorreram no cenário político sergipano após a mudança de regime.
