Resumo: The systems for agricultural production in general were built based on exploitation of natural resources from the earliest civilizations. The population growth increased dramatically in all nations and was accompanied by the occupation of farming activities, forcing the need for exploration of new areas, following the economic model of capitalism. The serious consequences of these actions reflect on the man through poverty and social inequalities, which increase every day. A new thinking is needed in order to encourage sustainable rural development to improve the quality of life of people. In ecological aspects, the hydrological cycle is of vital importance for the functioning of watersheds. This work aims to make a study of the morphology, environment and characterization of land structure of the microbasin hydrographic of the Mata Verde creek, located in the municipality of Malhador-SE. Thus, the study of this planning unit will foster the development of politcs to manage the water sources in a rational and sustainable. In Sergipe, the microbasin hydrographic of the Mata Verde creek located in the municipality of Malhador, which gives an overview occupation farm lives in conflict with the unsustainable development of its rural properties.

O crescimento populacional cresceu vertiginosamente em todas as nações e foi acompanhado pelas atividades de ocupação agropecuária, forçando a necessidade de exploração de novas áreas, seguindo o modelo econômico do capitalismo. As graves conseqüências destas ações refletem no próprio homem através da pobreza e desigualdades sociais, que aumentam a cada dia. Um novo pensar se faz necessário no intuito de propiciar o desenvolvimento rural sustentável para melhorar a qualidade de vida dos povos. Nos aspectos ecológicos, o ciclo hidrológico é de vital importância para o funcionamento das bacias hidrográficas. Este trabalho tem por objetivo, fazer um estudo da morfometria, meio ambiente e caracterização da estrutura fundiária da microbacia hidrográfica do riacho Mata Verde, situado no município de Malhador-SE. Sendo assim, o estudo desta unidade de planejamento promoverá a elaboração de políticas para gerenciar os mananciais de forma racional e sustentável.
