Resumo: This research aims to analyze the novels Little Women (1868; 2005), by Louisa May Alcott and The Shadow of the Patriarch (1950), by Alina Paim, based on studies of comparative literature and the novel of formation. We seek to establish a dialogue about how the insertion of women in literary production influenced the construction of the figure of women in society and their representations. This analysis begins with the social and cultural traits that have repercussions in the writing and reading of the works. In this process of construction of women's writing, women show their conflicts and desires, fruits of their experiences, providing an opportunity to represent themselves and to become aware of their voices. We have built the hypothesis that women's writing illustrates the social and cultural conditions in which women have been and are inserted, allowing us to make a comparison that builds a panorama of gender writing and contributes to the conquest of a prominent place. These studies result from the recognition of women as a force for cultural production in contemporary society. By delving into the research on the formation of these women, we demonstrate the transformation process that takes place in the protagonists, based on education and the elements that are related to it (readings, school, religious institutions, family, among others), providing a reflection on the representation of the female figure in the text and outside it. The speeches of the listed authors are the literary expression of the desire for real change and, being educated women, they claim for transformations in the dominant social plan. Among the works consulted for the preparation of this thesis, we highlight those that deal with the feminist criticism advocated by Besse (1999), Xavier (1991, 1998), Del Priore (2000), Dalcastagnè (2012), which deal with women's struggle for the right to education and for a democratic and inclusive space. On comparative literature we have Carvalhal (2006), Nitrini (2000), Culler (1999), Souza (2006), among others. This perspective is reinforced by studies on the bildungsroman by Pinto (1990) and Maas (2000). In this understanding, we seek to demonstrate the insertion of Alcott's and Paim's texts in the tradition of novels produced by women, and how the protagonists become examples of the bildung (formation), both social and cultural of women.

Procuramos estabelecer um diálogo sobre como a inserção feminina na produção literária influenciou na construção da figura da mulher na sociedade e suas representações. Esta análise se inicia pelos traços sociais e culturais que repercutem na produção escrita e leitura das obras. Neste processo de construção da escrita feminina, a mulher demonstra seus conflitos e desejos, frutos de suas experiências, oportunizando a representação de si mesma e a tomada de ciência de sua voz. Construímos a hipótese de que a escrita feminina ilustra as condições sociais e culturais nas quais a mulher esteve e está inserida, possibilitando-nos uma comparação que construa um panorama da escrita do gênero e contribua para a conquista de um lugar de destaque. Esses estudos resultam do reconhecimento da mulher como força de produção cultural na sociedade contemporânea. Ao enveredarmos na pesquisa sobre a formação dessas mulheres, demonstramos o processo de transformação que se opera nas protagonistas, tendo como base a educação e os elementos que estão relacionados a ela (leituras, escola, instituições religiosas, família, entre outros), propiciando uma reflexão sobre representação da figura feminina no texto e fora dele. Os discursos das autoras elencadas são a expressão literária do desejo de mudança real e, sendo elas mulheres instruídas, reivindicam transformações no plano social dominante. Entre as obras consultadas para a elaboração desta tese, destacam-se aquelas que tratam da crítica feminista defendida por Besse (1999), Xavier (1991, 1998), Del Priore (2000), Dalcastagnè (2012), que versam sobre a luta da mulher pelo direito à educação e por um espaço democrático e inclusivo. Sobre a literatura comparada contamos com Carvalhal (2006), Nitrini (2000), Culler (1999), Souza (2006), entre outros. Essa perspectiva é reforçada pelos estudos sobre o bildungsroman realizados por Pinto (1990) e Maas (2000).
