Resumo: | One of the main factors responsible for the degradation of façades is the humidity, causing the appearance of pathological manifestations and shortening the useful life of the coating. In this way, it becomes necessary to know coatings that are watertight as well as technologically and economically feasible in order to enable the recovery of degraded façades. In this scope, this research aimed at the evaluation of coatings available in the civil construction market, focusing on their watertightness. To this end, a total of twelve coatings were evaluated, of which eight were mortars divided into industrialized and dosed in constructions, and four water repellent film-forming agents. One of the industrialized mortars was used as a reference for comparison, which does not have any waterproofing component. The study was carried out from laboratory tests of permeability to water vapor, water absorption by capillarity, evaporation, tensile strength in flexion and compression. In addition, the existence of a degraded façade due to the action of moisture with a southern solar orientation, located in the city of Santa Maria/RS, allowed a case study from the application of the coatings and in situ tests of permeability to liquid water, absorption and evaporation, thermography and tensile adhesion strength. Also, we performed the cost composition of each coating studied, allowing the cost/benefit analysis. At the end of the fulfillment of all the methodology, it was possible to extract the considerations on the evaluated coatings. Therefore, water repellent coatings have been shown to be more efficient in relation to watertight and have also presented lower application cost when used for the recovery of degraded façades. |

Therefore, water repellent coatings have been shown to be more efficient in relation to watertight and have also presented lower application cost when used for the recovery of degraded façades. At the end of the fulfillment of all the methodology, it was possible to extract the considerations on the evaluated coatings. Therefore, water repellent coatings have been shown to be more efficient in relation to watertight and have also presented lower application cost when used for the recovery of degraded façades. |
