Resumo: Considering the popularization of fantastical fiction in the beginning of the 21st century, the dissertation aims to explore how the productive and symbolic dimensions of the structure of gender relations appear among the values that guide the consumption of these narratives in Brazil. Since the narrative structure of myth, one of the formal constituents of these fictions which we refer to as fantastical sagas, already provides for distinctions between men and women, the general objective of the work is to analyze the preferences of Brazilian fans of these sagas in order to identify which attributes are rejected and which endorsed by the research participants, and also which relationships we can establish between them and the socially established patterns of masculinity and femininity. To do this, we combined quantitative and qualitative analyzes of 247 answers from fans who answered the online survey questionnaire posted on Facebook. Among the results, we observed the preference for less stereotyped and passive considered female characters, in the face of a gender order that confers disadvantages to women in most societies - fictional or not - and the praise of attributes such as intelligence, independence, strength and courage, greater admiration when identified among women than among men.

Uma vez que a estrutura narrativa do mito, um dos elementos formais constituintes dessas ficções a que nos referimos como sagas fantásticas, já prevê distinções entre homens e mulheres, o objetivo geral do trabalho é analisar as preferências de fãs brasileiras dessas sagas de forma a identificar quais os atributos rejeitados e quais endossados pelas participantes da pesquisa e quais as relações que podemos estabelecer entre esses e os padrões de masculinidade e feminilidade socialmente estabelecidos. Para isso, combinamos análises quantitativas e qualitativas das declarações das 247 fãs que responderam o questionário online da pesquisa divulgado via Facebook. Entre os resultados, observamos a preferência por personagens femininas consideradas menos estereotipadas e passivas diante uma ordem de gênero que confere desvantagens às mulheres na maioria das sociedades – fictícias ou não – e a valorização de atributos como inteligência, independência, força e coragem, vistos com maior admiração quando identificados entre mulheres do que entre homens.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em ComunicaçãoUFSMBrasilComunicaçãoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSagas fantásticasFeminismoGêneroConsumoFantastical sagasFeminismGenderConsumptionCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAOGênero no consumo de sagas fantásticas no BrasilGender in the consumption of fantastical sagas in Brazilinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisRonsini, Veneza Mayorahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0158036614584571Escosteguy, Ana Carolina Damboriarenahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9828116606137239Schmitz, Daniela Mariahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8630871500584373http://lattes.cnpq.br/6940773619994831Xavier, Kellen do Carmo6009000000086008e8a7697-90f6-4bd4-a5ae-c0532005e9e66e8c8a21-8995-46ea-a30b-d68bbed678092fa69247-8d64-4306-b1a0-948ffd74e72913616399-d1d9-4867-ba01-6b5f8b6793a5reponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
