The present work aims at analyzing the development f conjuntos habitacionais of social interest built in the city of São Gabriel, R/S, through the methodology of post occupation assessment, APO , including the elaboration and the application of both: a questionnaire and the detailed visiting of several inhabitance unities. The researched area consisted of 2 conjuntos habitacionais of shared unities from a total of 314 houses with an area from 27,00 to 36, 24 sq meters, built between 1996 and 2002. From the total above mentioned, 175 unities were visited (55,7%) and 24 were surveyed (7,6%). The unities are built with a ceramic block with an external covering, but without an internal one. The main problems noticed are related to the deficiency of ground solidification and high warping of the floor. We also identified cracking on the walls and the low quality of the materials, especially the doorknobs. An expressive number of houses show an increasing of the area and the inhabitants, generally speaking, seem to be satisfied with their houses, certainly due to previous living conditions (places susceptible to floods, etc)
