This work is situated within the research field of Archaeology and Paleontology, grounded in Heritage Education and approached through scientific dissemination using an audiovisual documentary as a tool. The main objective was to conduct a historical recovery of Paleontology in the municipality of São Pedro do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in order to contribute to the strengthening of Heritage Education initiatives. The study addresses the following research question: “How is it possible to promote knowledge and understanding of the importance of the paleontological heritage of the municipality of São Pedro do Sul through scientific dissemination from the perspective of Heritage Education?” This research is qualitative and semi-quantitative in nature, exploratory in character, and descriptive in scope. It is based on documentary research carried out using sources from the Walter Ilha Archaeological and Paleontological Museum, as well as in situ observations conducted within the collections and at the municipality’s paleontological and paleobotanical sites. The study promotes the appreciation and preservation of heritage, strengthening scientific literacy and supporting public policies aimed at its protection and local development. The final product of this research consisted of the production of an audiovisual documentary accompanied by an explanatory catalog, both developed with the purpose of promoting scientific dissemination and enhancing the value of the paleontological heritage within the community. Dissemination to the public was provided free of charge through screenings during events commemorating the municipality’s centennial celebration, and the material will remain available through a YouTube channel and other digital media platforms. The evaluation of the product’s impact was conducted qualitatively through observation of public reception, participation records during screenings, and audience feedback, considering aspects such as content comprehension, level of interest generated, and the potential contribution to the appreciation of local paleontological heritage. Regarding the quantitative approach, evaluation was carried out through the application of a feedback questionnaire made available to the audience either in printed format or through QR Code access immediately after the screenings, as well as through the counting of views on the YouTube platform. The data obtained from these stages were systematized and presented in percentages. It is expected that the product developed through this research will consolidate itself as an effective tool for promoting Heritage Education and strengthening scientific literacy, generating social, cultural, educational, and economic impacts while fostering the development of the municipality through the appreciation of its heritage.
