The Brazilian Pampa Biome, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, has grassland vegetation as its most striking geoecological component, although it is not the only type present. In this same biome, extensive livestock farming is a central element in the composition of its cultural landscape. Despite these distinctive features, the Pampa coast has specific characteristics that differentiate it and contrast it with the rest of the Pampa, demonstrating that this landscape-territory needs and demands recognition and representation. The influence of the coastal ecosystem on the landscape and local ways of life highlights and points to a path and a problem: the lack of representation and definition of the Coastal Pampa, as well as the absence of public policies focused on this unit. Therefore, this study aims to identify and delimit the Coastal Pampa, analyzing its geoecological, economic, and cultural identity characteristics. From the analysis of the landscape components, referring to vegetation, geomorphology and geology, characterization of socioeconomic conditions and systematization of the perception of the landscape, the necessary subsidies were obtained to cartographically represent the Coastal Pampa and thus promote an important reference for future environmental policies that are more aligned with the local reality, guided by a development sensitive to territorial specificities and existing socio-environmental conflicts.
