Aquisição das obstruintes em crianças com desenvolvimento fonológico típico em dois municípios do Rio Grande do Sul

This study investigated the acquisition of obstruent phonemes (stops and fricatives) in children with typical phonological development of two municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul with different dialectal influences. It was verified, thereby, the similarities and differences between the groups studied. The present study was based on speech data of two groups composed by 36 children in the municipality of Santa Maria and 36 in the municipality of Agudo, aged between 1:0 and 4:0, monolingual speakers of Brazilian Portuguese. The collection of linguistic production was performed by applying the instrument AFC Avaliação Fonológica da Criança (YAVAS, HERNANDORENA E LAMPRECHT, 1991), using beyond the figures, selected objects and toys based on this assessment instrument. The intervening variables considered in the production of obstruent phonemes were: age, sex, input type, metrical foot, number of syllables, preceding and following syllable context, position in the word, grammatical class, voicing and class of obstruent. Statistical analysis was performed using the computer package Varbrul, with a significance level of 5%. The results suggest no influence of dialectal variation in the course of phonological acquisition in the municipality of Agudo, which could occur due to the constant oscillation of voicing in the speech of adults living in this city. Thus, the characteristics of this process were very similar between the two profiles analyzed.
