Resumo: Introduction: In rural work, workers are exposed to numerous risks (physical, chemical, mechanical, and biological). Among work-related injuries, work-related accidents (WAs) are considered the most serious, accounting for approximately one-third of all emergency room visits due to external causes. In rural areas, they are 30% more prevalent than in urban areas. Agricultural workers are the third most injured occupation in Brazil, and Rio Grande do Sul (RS) is one of the states with the highest number of WAs cases. Objective: to analyze the distribution and patterns of work accidents reported among rural workers in RS, from 2019 to 2023. Method: ecological study with a quantitative approach on AT with rural workers reported in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), according to the seven health macro-regions of RS, from 2019 to 2023. Results: The data showed an increase in general TA cases and TA involving rural workers, both at the state and national levels, from 2019 to 2023. RS accounted for 16% of the notifications registered in the country. There was an increase in notifications in all health macro-regions of RS, with the north having the highest number of cases. TA occurred predominantly in male, white individuals of working age and with low levels of education; significant data regarding educational level were missing. Typical accidents predominated (90%), most received medical care (95%), evolved to recovery (46%), and did not involve other workers (93%). Upper limbs, especially the hand (30%), were the most affected areas. The main causes of AT were: accidents with projected, thrown or falling objects, falls from heights and from one's own height, accidents caused by hand tools with and without motors, accidents with agricultural machinery, transport accidents, accidents with animals (falls, bites, stings) and poisoning or intoxication by animals, plants or agrochemicals. Conclusion: Investing in public policies for prevention, training and protection is essential to reduce harm and value those who support the foundation of national development

Conclusion: Investing in public policies for prevention, training and protection is essential to reduce harm and value those who support the foundation of national developmentIntrodução: No contexto do trabalho rural, os trabalhadores estão expostos a inúmeros riscos (físicos, químicos, mecânicos e biológicos).
